Dear Holy Spirit Catholic School Families and Friends:
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the incoming principal of Holy Spirit Catholic School. I hope that this note finds you enjoying the rejuvenating days of summer and that you and your children are looking forward to beginning a wonderful school year together in August. It is truly an honor to become a part of the HSCS family and community. Even though I have only had limited interactions with the faculty and parents to date, I can already tell this school is a unique and special place. I am incredibly excited to become a part of this community built around educating and nurturing students.
I come to you with 24 years of experience as an educator. I spent 4 years teaching English/Language Arts at a local junior high and 20 years as a school librarian at Rock Springs High School, serving in many leadership capacities within the school and district. In 2018, I completed my educational doctorate in teacher/instructional leadership, and in May 2020, I completed the K-12 administrative certification program at the University of Wyoming. So while this is my first administrative position, I come to you with leadership experiences and a passion for seeing students succeed at the highest levels they can. I also bring to this position an enthusiasm, dedication, and desire to further the excellent work that is being done here at Holy Spirit.
On a personal note, I also come in to this position as parent, an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community, and alumni of Holy Spirit Catholic School. My husband, Rick, and I have two grown children—one with a solid career and one in college. I have been a Catholic my whole life and raised my children in the faith that has provided me with a solid ethical foundation and guidepost in my personal and profession life. I truly believe that the foundations of Catholic Identity can help instill in all of our children a moral compass steeped in faith, hope, love, compassion, empathy, servitude, respect, responsibility, discipline, and more. These habits of mind for success will serve our students beyond their time at Holy Spirit.
I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to immersing myself completely in our school and in our community. This summer, I plan to spend time working with Mrs. Marcos, faculty and staff, and the Board of Governors (Advisory Board) to ensure a smooth transition. I will get to know our building, our community, and familiarize myself with the unique strengths and needs of our school.
To our students, I cannot wait to meet you all! I hope that you are excited for this coming school year and that you are out this summer playing and reading tons of books with your family and friends. It is going to be a fun year learning together!
To our families, I also cannot wait to meet and work with all of you! I will be at the school periodically throughout the summer and will be available via email or telephone to answers questions, share ideas or hear concerns. Or if you are nearby the school at all this summer, please stop by and say hello! I plan on holding a principal meet-n-greet sometime at the end of July, beginning of August so please be on the lookout for information regarding this event. Also, I am putting some finishing touches on the school calendar and will have that posted on our website shortly.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Peace and Blessings,
Dr. Angie Spann
